    SLEEVE NOTES:

Paul Mauriat's Grand Orchestra, the leading exponent of the love sound so well known for "Penelope" and "Toccata," has delivered another great original hit. The song introduced in this record, "White Sands of the Caribbean," is that song. Of course, it is the latest recording from 1974. The melody is very familiar, and the unique arrangement, which features a wonderful piano, harpsichord, and strings, has become more and more mature and is performed with great pleasure. The beautiful sound with a hint of melancholy and exoticism is sure to be well received in Japan.

The author, Jean Bernard, a close friend of Paul Mauriat and an alumnus of the Conservatory of Music, visited Japan in 1973 as a member of his grand orchestra and played the piano with great fluidity. The original title, "Machu Picchu," refers to the famous Incan ruins in the Andes mountains, but the Japanese title, "White Sands of the Caribbean," seems more appropriate for the song.

The B-side, "Melody Lady," topped the French hit parade in early 1974. The original English version is Sunshine, but the French version is called "Melancholie," and it was a big hit sung by the popular French pop singer Shayla.
