    SLEEVE NOTES:

Easy Listening .... This is a term we hear a lot these days. The number of fans of easy listening songs has been increasing year by year in Japan as well. This trend is not limited to Japan, and a surprising phenomenon has also occurred in the U.S. Hit Parade. "Love is Blue," performed by Paul Mauriat, the main performer of the album, held the No. 1 position for six consecutive weeks. The song also rose up the parade in the U.K., where it finally became a big hit.

The big hit of "Love is a Blue" has been a springboard for the reemergence of easy-listening numbers around the world.

Paul Mauriat is now known around the world as the wizard who created the new sound of mood music, but until a few years ago he was not so famous in the U.S. or Japan.

But he was a hidden gem among French musicians and chansons. His orchestra, which plays with a clear, unpretentious, French mood that allows the songs to open up their own essence, and with a refined French sense of style and European elegance, was being recognized by some as the new sound.

Paul Mauriat, whose exact age and place of birth are unknown, began playing the piano at age 4 and dreamed of becoming a concert pianist. When he was 17, he formed his own band that performed in clubs and concert halls all over Europe, where he met Charles Aznatour and started working with him. He was a great musician, and he was the first to introduce him to the world. He says, “Working with Zunavour, I was able to express myself in a variety of musical squills. I still love backing him, and Aznavour's depth is unfathomable. I find something new and different in him every time. ...... Mauriat has backed Aznavour on 120 songs so far, and now he is finally coming into the popular music world as the new sound of mood music with his own orchestra.

L'Amour Est Bleu:
A beautiful original song by Vicki, which won the fourth prize at the 12th Eurovision Song Contest in 1967 and was released in 19 countries around the world. Harpsichord was skillfully used in the arrangement. This song was No. 1 in the U.S. for six weeks in a row and will remain a standard in the future. Written by P. Cole with lyrics by Andre Popp.

Jamais Je Ne Vivrai Sans Toi:
Here, Mauriat plays a beautiful piano tone in a quiet and peaceful way. The lyrics were written by Pallavicini and composed by Donaggio.

San Francisco:
This popular hit was a big hit in Japan as sung by Scott McKenzie. Although it is an American song, Mauriat's performance gives the song a European feel. It was composed by John Phillips.

J'Ai Peur:
Another beautiful song with lyrics by Jacques Domarny and music by Enrico Macias. The arrangement makes the most of the piano and rhythm.
