SLEEVE NOTES:
Arirang:
It is an old Korean folk song, the author of which is unknown. Paul Mauriat visited Korea twice in '75 and '76 as part of his Asian tour, giving concerts that were widely acclaimed. During his stay in Korea, he heard the melody of "Arirang" and was so taken by it that he immediately recorded it and added it to his repertoire. Paul Mauriat's performance of "Arirang" is a poetic arrangement of the melody, and depicts an exotic Korean scene.
Avec du Soleil et de l'Eau:
This song was a hit in France in 1970. André Salvet wrote the lyrics for André Popp, who is well known for "Love is Blue" and "Song for Anna," and the strings play pleasantly over the light rhythm, making for an enjoyable performance. This song was included on the previously released "Tombe la Neige/Paul Mauriat" album, and the wonderful performance of this song has prompted the longing of Paul Mauriat fans for a re-release of the album, which has now been realized.
