Translated Notes

At the age of 4, the destiny of Paul Mauriat (a Frenchman of pure French stock) seemed definite. He played the piano with such fluency for his age that his father, a famous classical concert pianist, was convinced that he would follow his path. At the age of 10 he entered the Paris Conservatory and at 14 he completed his studies in piano and composition. A "record" difficult to match. When he was about to start his career as a precocious concert pianist and to translate on the keyboard Bach, Mozart, Beethoven? when he discovered jazz! Paul Mauriat felt that a revolution was taking place in his youthful spirit. He decided to form a small orchestral ensemble and to start playing modern music.

Mauriat - in constant evolution since the age of 18 when he made his debut in Paris at the head of his orchestra - is already considered by critics as one of the most brilliant pianists, conductors and arrangers of our time. All the greats of the song, recognizing him as such, call for his collaboration.

Mauriat is always on the latest "wave", in the most attractive and vital of the present without forgetting the best of the past. He reads Shakespeare as well as Simenon's detective novels. He listens and studies Bach as well as Armstrong or Brassen. Creator of world hits such as "Love is blue", among others, he shows himself eternally young, achieving the miracle that his music appeals to all generations.
